    • Right on schedule 2nd excerpt from Haney book released

After going through a divorce, mending from injuries, having the media pile on for over 2 years while weed and worse (per Matt Every was going on and only had a 3 day news cycle - criminal activity), deposed regarding the Canadian Doctor......Tiger didn't bring the subject up....he simply stated he wasn't going to comment on that and Micelli, agressively pursued it.  Tiger either just wants to get back to golf and get some peace in his life or as soon as Haney's book comes out he will take action.  It WILL beat you down!!!!

I have been through litigation, it is a long drawn out process and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.  One more thing to remember and it is on tape.....both Haney and Williams stated they knew nothing of Tiger's other women, had no idea.  Can't dispute a video and trust me, you can say, he has attorneys to do that work however, it DOES NOT give you relief just to move on awaiting the outcome, it is always on your mind!

PLEASE....have you seen Hank Haney's wife.....wonder what happened to his first wife because this one is about 20 years younger than he is!  Honestly, I wanted to take a bath after watching his show with Limbaugh when Haney took his wife with him, uh Hank, you need to wipe the slobber from your mouth.  That particular episode had more to do with his wife than coaching Limbaugh.

TGC and media have been chasing this for so long I can't blame Tiger for responding the way he did to Micelli after being hounded by him.  I have seen Phil flat out say he is not answering a question and it's DONE!  This has always been the problem....Tiger Woods has been treated differently than all others and I doubt seriously that Tiger was worried about Phil, his clubs did the talking.  Not a word from TGC when Lucas Glover's wife walked in on him in the act with another woman except to say, "it's nice to see him back in contention after his 'personal problems'."

The point is, whether you are #1 or #100, report equally.  Why is it that Matt Every openly states after leading a tournament, he doesn't see a problem with what occurred and that there are far worse things going on with the pros that it is only a 3 day news cycle.

Why is it, that you can research Phil and find that his own collegues gave him a nickname that isn't at all supportive?  Do some research on FIGJAM and you will find the answers.  Seems the pros didn't think much of his attitude either.  To put this in perspective, it is Tiger's PRIVATE life, he broke no laws yet he can't go to the porta-potty without it being announced.  Oh, I will say about the media, they do make fun of two other players: John Daly and Tommy Gainey - I guess they don't fit the mold just as Tiger doesn't even though Tiger created outrageous purses, started a foundation and created cottage industries from his abilities.  This story should have been over with 2 years ago, wonder why it isn't?

Seriously think about this......if Hank was so afraid of Tiger to ask him for a popsicle, Tiger would have had a confidentiality clause that would cause that fear yet he didn't.  Unauthorized biography, pure and simple and we have seen many of those written about our Presidents only to find it isn't true.  Haney did also say on video that the book was about golf......now do we believe the words on the pages of his book?  Opportunist!  It's on video, he's lied twice, how much of this book do you believe?  Tiger, a man who made Haney rich, will now capitalize one more time on someone who trusted him.  SAD!

Interesting too TT that they are already talking about selling it to Walmart to be sold at $4.99......hmm, same thing that happened to "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin.  Yea, at that price many may be sold but if it stays in Barnes and Noble or Borders at $28, I think people are more interested in what is going on with the economy than a Haney book.  Palin's book became a best seller, the first one, BECAUSE it was at $4.99 in Walmart.

A couple of points, if I may...
Trying to equate the media coverage given Tiger Woods, Matt Every, and Lucas Glover as each went through his own "personal problems" is just not realistic. Let's be honest. Granted, Tiger has been treated differently by the media, but there'a reason for that. Rightly or wrongly, NOBODY could care less about Every and Glover, but EVERYONE is interested in Tiger. Given the circumstances, who's the media going to try to crucify? Yup, Tiger.
As for Haney, it's quite obvious that you hate the guy's guts, so I don't think it's unfair to say that you can't possibly be objective here. To be perfectly honest, I have never seen Haney's wife, but I'm not sure where she fits into this whole issue. When the book does come out, I probably will buy it, if for no other reason that to see what the fuss is all about. I still contend that Haney's no idiot, and I have no reason to believe that he's made anything up. The fact that Jaime Diaz, a very respected golf writer and editor-in-chief of Golf World magazine, co-wrote the book definitely lends credibility to the project.
I'm not sure why Phil has been brought into this discussion, but the FIGJAM thing is pretty much old news. If you Google FIGJAM, can you find anything there that more recent than 2006? There's no question that some (you mention nobody by name) players on tour think Phil's a bit of a phony, but he's got his share of friends out there, as well, including Hunter Mahan, Darren Clarke, Billy Mayfair, Keegan Bradley, Scott Verplank, and Chris DeMarco, to name a handful.
It would be nice if everyone were treated equally, but that will never happen. The media will always focus in on those whose stories will generate the greatest interest. That's as true in the world of music, movies, and entertainment in general as it is in sports, including golf. It may not be fair, but it's the way it is. As long as Tiger is actively involved in the game he'll generate more interest and notoriety than probably everyone else put together. As someone we both know repeats over and over and over, Tiger Woods is the #1 golfer in the world...and with that comes intense media scrutiny.
Thanks again for the thoughtful and passionate presentation of your argument. I'm sure we'll talk again.

Just to answer as best as I can, I know and realize that is how the media world works.  However, it does not make it right.  Matt Every is an unknown - we agree but the fact that there was criminal activity with 3 members charged bothers me that TGC or media would not be AS concerned about this, considering the PGA always flies the banner of a "Gentlemen's Club."  If true investigative journalism was done on this story, wouldn't you agree that it would be a "catch" for any journalist to break wide open the myth that Golf has portrayed.  It disgusted me that what was more important to Faldo was that Matt Every get a publicist rather than state this will taint our reputation.  So, Matt Every's story was an example.  Just as Phil's was, to expose that there is an inequality in reporting - Tiger has a bad attitude, Phil's collegues claim the same.  Apples and Apples.

Please don't presume that I hate anyone, I did not say that.....I implied that there is more to the story regarding Hank than meets the eye and that he has already lied about two instances that he put in his book, that has been on video.  So, it begs the question, what in it is true?  It makes me question does he deserve respect.  I don't hate anyone but certainly have the right to hate their behavior.

This is the problem with the newcomers on this board and part of the reason that people get testy with them.  We have been on this board answering the same questions you are asking for over 2 years now.  And as a caucasion, my belief, my opinion, the PGA and TGC certainly have ridden Tiger's coattails but never really liked the fact that a person of color was the best Golfer in the world.  IMO, if the same thing happened to Phil, it would have been similiar to Matt Every's or Lucas Glover's coverage of it.

So, what I'm saying to you is that Tiger's fans have been battered, sent repulsive emails with personal attacks and are not only weary of answering the same questions over and over only to once again explain our positions but leary of newcomers as well.  I am a fan of Tiger, I have stated I did not approve of his ACTIONS but I don't rely on any of them to be or set examples for anyone's child or the sport.  If the PGA doesn't approve of someone's private, personal actions, whomever they are.......kick them down the road but do it to all of them.  But of course we both know that they won't because Tiger is still the biggest draw around the world and it is all about $$$$$.  In all sincerity, your post about how the world works is a lecture that I have heard, been called names over, merely because I won't give up praying that this ultra-talented man be given the respect he is due for his golf just as they would for any other golfer who has stumbled.  And I am only assuming here that you follow or play golf yourself so regardless of the celebrity pull the man up as they did Faldo, Norman and Watson.  They have one thing in common, they are not people of color and in their time, they were the celebrities.   Where is the outcry just from last year when Phil cussed so loud on a par three you could hear it sitting near the green or when Tom Watson last year used the Lord's name in vain to quickly before the cameras could pan away.  Bottom line, this goes on with many that are at or near the top yet it is more important to talk about Tiger running to the porta-potty.  A real injustice done last year at the Bridgestone was not that Adam Scott was covered first but that Williams was......Adam Scott won the tournament, all it takes is putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time and we can drive the media in the direction it should go.  No other sport has held onto something so long on one person than golf, not even the NFL where a player served time for criminal activity.  In those sports, no matter the ethnicity, they pay for their infractions commensurate with the crime.  There was no crime committed here so let's all take that step and require or at the least cover golf.  If TGC quit making Tiger the headline, no matter what he does, the story of Tiger would be when he hoists a trophy.  When Haney's book comes out, I will not buy it because I won't know what is a lie, his words, videos certainly don't lie.  And I'll leave you with this, 2 years ago the members that were on this site were disappointed and stated so, you just weren't here and even that, no one can be sure of because there have been many that have been booted of only to come back with another username.  I am not accusing YOU of that, but after a few posts, those returnees are easily identified.

I just love how Haney tries to paint the picture of everyone around Tiger being innocent and perfect, but yet mentioning every negative thing about Tiger he could think of. I do find it interesting how people associated with The Golf Channel can write books trashing Tiger, but still be allowed to appear on the network.

After Woods won the 2005 Buick Invitational, his first stroke-play victory in nearly 16 months and his first with Haney as his coach, Nordegren wanted to celebrate. She pointed out that when she was a nanny for Jesper Parnevik, his family would hold a party whenever Parnevik won. Woods responded: “E, that’s not what we do. I’m not Jesper. We’re supposed to win.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------

This part does not make any sense. Tiger won two stroke play tournaments in November and December of 2004.

My two cents - most of the excerpts I've read that are derogatory about Tiger seem to be Haney's "interpretation" of what Tiger thought or felt, not actual facts that he can support.    And some of the stuff is just plain silly.  If he was so intimidated by Tiger that, as a guest in his home, he was afraid to ask for a friggin' popsicle, how in the world could he be his instructor in the first place?

In my opinion, this book sounds like a "stream of conciousness" reflection on his days in the sun, filled with gossip and his take on Tiger's innermost thoughts.   Heck, most of us could write a similar book without every meeting Tiger, based on what we've read, heard, and observed over the past 30 years and it would be just as accurate.

Whatever Haney's purpose was in writing this junk, anyone who doesn't think it's at least partly a money-grab......well, I wish I saw the world through your rosecolored glasses.   LOL
