Eyeofthetiger,
Tell'ya what ...rather than assume I'm wrong with my comments about Tiger, why don't you ask him yourself if I'm even remotely correct, or not. If he was completely candid in his reply, I think you'd be surprised at his answer. I'm not maligning Tiger in any way, just attempting to figure out what his mental block might be.
Tiger mentioned, himself, immediately after the tourney that he, "Just couldn't see the line. (putting)", etc, which indicates to me he wasn't completely focused on the task at hand; i. e., a mental block of some sort. I love Tiger as much as -- if not more than -- the next Tiger fan ...heck, if he needed a kidney I'd offer him one of mine. But, the fact remains something is causing Tiger to lag behind in the final round of his most recent tournaments after he's played near flawlessly the three preceeding days.
By contrast, Phil was in the zone today ...he went out (under the same playing conditions as Tiger) and shot eight under par to come from -9 back in the field to win the tournament . I'll sure as heck bet he wasn't able to do that because his "mental game" was on the fritz. No, he did it because he was brimming with confidence, and Tiger didn't do it because his confidence level was nowhere near that of Phil's ...for whatever reason.
I'm no different than every other Tiger fan ...I just want to see him back to his old kick-a-and-take-names self ...preferably, sooner, rather than later.
Fairways and Greens ...Eagles and Birdies, Tiger!
