I'm glad UPS wasn't in charge of getting the torch there on time. It would just be Redgrave reading out a tracking number.

I have to say i find it really weird that the olympics are not shown in real time in America. i have just finished watching the opening ceremony here in Australia, which started at 5.30 am here, but there would have been a huge outcry had we not been able to see it live. Sure, many people may only watch the reply later on today, but the choice to watch a repeat or watch it live is there for everyone. I guess, living down in the southern hemisphere, we just get used to watching important events at all odd hours of the day ( or night) Its part of the fun. Kongo

Every event will be shown live somewhere on networks like NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, and CNBC.

Because it would have been early afternoon when nobody would have been able to see it because of work.

Based on what I've seen tonight......an afternoon viewing when folks were at work or on the golf course would have been okay!  Program has left me totally cold :-((

 

The best part was obviously seeing Team USA and then Paul McCartney. Beijing's opening ceremony was epic. This one is ok, but nothing great.

Yes....it's always great to see Team USA (and the others too) enter the stadium.  Only wish Team USA had nicer, sportier uniforms....those caps just are not Team USA (LOL).....but better than the UK's gold wing-like epilets (LOL)....  Still waiting to see the Queen smile :-))

 

Just finished watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics.....loved most of it.   There were, of course, being Channel 4, a gazzillion commercials....it seemed like every 3 minutes there was a commercial.  There were some really fantastic moments during the ceremonies ....did not see anybody give the any sign when the German team came in.   Loved the way they did the lighting of the torch at the end. 

Can't wait for Rio 2016. Olympic golf !
