I can't say I'm sorry to see Michelle Wie's total collapse on the weekend. I'm not sure that I understand how anyone would actually root for her to win. I'm really left with a bad taste over her (or her pushy parents') insistence on trying to compete against the men a few years back. Considering that she never made a cut during that misguided effort, it only made her look foolish. Now that she's graduated from college, you'd think that now would be her chance to demonstrate that she belongs on the LPGA Tour, but so far this year she's missed more cuts than she's made. Her 66 last Friday pretty much has to be viewed as a fluke, considering how pathetic her year has been so far. Perhaps she can turn things around in the next few months, but Nike and Kia must be scurrying around trying to find how they can extricate themselves from their contracts with Wie.
