i'm sorry, i just saw this, but i believe that all the candidates, paul included, operate with some level of hypocrisy. that is the nature of politics where you are expected to cater to the whims of all subsets of society. would a more suitable candidate for you be gary johnson, for example, who is more vocal in the legalization of marijuana and openly supports gay marriage?
i don't see a problem with embracing elements of both republicanism and libertarianism. paul doesn't. jesus wasn't a pure republican, libertarian, or democrat for that matter, yet as Christians we tend to pigenhole our beliefs for the sake of viability. rick santorum, for example, is anti-abortion, but married a woman who was affiliated with an abortion doctor, and wouldn't hesitate to send soldiers off to battle to possibly face certain death. yet he is the conservative candidate who is the darling of evangelicals.
my choice of paul for president was not influenced by the media, in fact, most paul supporters are complaining about a media 'blackout' of paul. of the four remaining republican candidates, paul is the least likely choice of the mainstream media.
