It isn't the players making the excuses as a general rule, it is the media. That is my beef. I think both Phil and WeeMac are grown men and they do not need the media to fight their battles for them or take care of them.

IMO Weemac and Figjam made statements that the press grabbed and ran with......the press didn't make up the excuses, they just promoted 'em......

I can agree with that. I found it quite ironic that Phil would be moaning about the camera phones going off while he was playing in round one of the Memorial. How many years has Tiger been putting up with that? I mean seriously. All the major players on the PGA are subject to this same distraction. They weren't singling Phil out.

Like Hogan and Jack in the past, Tiger at his peak never seemed to be upset by outside distractions. He has always had the biggest crowds, many times louder than traditional golf crowds and he obviously did very well. I beleive when his game is back where he wants it, his mind will be clearly focused on the shot and these things will not matter that much. It's his being so comfortable in these conditons that gave him such an edge against anyone he was paired with. That's the real imtimidation factor. It is coming back.
