that's the type of conversation i was trying to stir up with this thread.
tiger has a tendency to 'mail it in' when he knows he has no chance of winning. he has the luxury of doing that when the average tour player does not. personally, i don't like to see it. its not fun to watch somebody just give up. but to say that didn't happen, and give him a pass for the sake of being unconditionally supportive...we're not a member of his family or a close friend.
as was said here, many of us have a stake in this. i've ponied up for attending events thousands of miles away where tiger was in the field. i'm sure there were people in the gallery at pebble that did the same. i wouldn't doubt there were people that were seeing tiger for the first time in person. what kind of impression do you think he gave them on the back nine on sunday? not a very good one. i know that's part of tiger's competitive nature, but its something as a fan i can do without.
