Impossible to quantify. What %age of luck was involved in the ball finding the bottom of the cup?
  • 6/6/12

I'd guess 50/50 skill/luck!  Tiger knew exactly where he needed to land the chip to get a roll toward the cup.....he knew the speed he would need once on the green to roll it forward.....he knew the slop of the green.  The roll went further than he ever anticipated as his goal was to make par and move on to the 17th.  But luck helped the ball continue it's roll.....a little wobble left.....a little wobble right.....and wammo!!

Simply a "better than most"......"can you belive that"....."incredible"......"vintage" Tiger moment :-))))))

PS......Left Faldo, Nantz, and Jack speechless!! (for a few seconds anyway)

i guess we'll never know.    unless we talk with Tigs.

but if it were true, that he could actually read all of

that into those kinds of putts, he would never tell anyway.

"THE HARDER YOU PRACTICE, THE LUCKIER YOU GET".

This quote has been attributed to Gary Player but Player says it was Jerry Barber who said it. But no matter who originally said it, it has never been truer than Tiger's shot on #16 at the Memorial!!

Yes, I've heard that quote before. You must make a great shot to be in position for luck to intervene for the finishing touches.

Tiger has made so many of these shots when it matters most, that he must be the luckiest guy in golf.
