Well I might agree with a comment that he didn't have an opportunity to play the course as much as he has others and that may have effected his play in round 1. I did hear him in a interview after that round make a comment that his problems stemmed from not knowing the course, but that he now knew the course going into round 2.
As I posted previously Tigers issues at the Greenbrier continued to be the issues that he fights each week, Exploting to the maximum his advantage on the par 5's and getting his approach shots into a position where the birdie opportunities are reasonable, birdie opportunies from 20 feet aren't high probabilities. Like any pro when he does those things properly they have a good chance of winning, you don't you go home early. It does seem to be an off and on thing. Clearly you could see that he was frustrated with his short iron play, to me the thing that really stood out was his wedge play, by Tiger standards it was pretty dismal and cost him dearly on a number of holes yesterday. Some weeks are better than others, but there were no excuses for this week. He doesn't make them and I don't think they should be part of the conversation.
BTW the suggestions that I saw in other posts that he was simply mailing this one in are pure BS. Tiger doesn't play that way and he was the picture of intensity on the back 9 trying to make that cut.
