I checked the course layout yesterday and thought I saw 3 par 5's so a 71 total????? Tiger is much better now with his accuracy and the fairways are a little wider so not many will run into the fringe as they did at the US Open. But the place has a ton of bunkers. Everywhere!!!! The wind is the issue but Tiger's stinger might be well suited to combat that. The ball will run up to the green if you place it right in the fairway. It is a shotmaker's course for sure.
Tiger will get one this year. We have this week off then 2 weeks in a row of Tiger. Then to the Open. Those will be long nights. tee off times start at like 1:00 am and Tiger has been getting lots of early tee times. LOL
ESPN usually covers this tournament starting at about 3 am. But the Europeantour.com will have radio coverage as well. AND we have several English members here who have SKY SPORTS and they can update us.
I like his chances to contend in the Open. He played the par 5s poorly last week, but he rocked them at the Memorial.
What keeps me at ease is despite the terrible start he had yesterday, he played the remaining 12 holes at -3 par. If I were to make a realistic arm chair statement, his overall wedge game including short game need improvement; otherwise he won't have much fun at Royal Lytham.
It is a par 70 according to the www.royallytham.org/scorecard. Only holes #7 and #11 are par 5s.
