I agree VG.  I was really suprised at Tiger's decision to try and play it out of that bunker, but it was his decision to make.  I felt it was still early enough in the tournament for him to take the unplayable and drop the ball,  or do as McDowell did later and play it back , this way maybe he would have gotten away with a single bogey.  Usually Tiger takes his medicine and uses the more pragmatic approach.  Why do you think he did not this time?  Plus, I was worried, as I am sure we all were, about possible damage to his leg.

Still it was a great tournament to watch and Tiger still played well enough to tie for third, his best in a major championship this year.  Even with his B game he beat the World #1, #2 and #3 and many other notable golfers.  And he has risen to #2 in the World Rankings.  A magnificent accomplishment already given the turmoil of the last two and a half years.  We fans must realise that this a journey we are on with Tiger, there will be triumphs, and there will be setbacks or bumps along the way, but his goal is to beat Jack's majors record.  I am still sure he will and I feel privileged to share the road with him.

Congratulations to Ernie on the win, a true gentlemanand a great sportsman.  And who could not feel compassion for Adam Scott, to be so near the fulfillment of a dream and then to have it slip away!  I do not like his caddy, but that feeling is for Steve Williams alone.

Agree.....that shot out of the bunker on #6 was definitely risky and to many not a wise decision.  Just imagine the noise if he made it out!!!  Tiger said many times that the bunkers were not to be toyed with.....and he did well to stay out of them more than others.   But.....he took the risk.....it didn't work out as he planned and he paid for it!  Golf is a cruel game :-)

I, too, enjoy being able to watch his rise again to the top!  And, just think what it will be like when his game is 100%.  Right now, I think he's at about 90%......

"The game plan was to fire it into the bank, have it ricochet to the right and then have an angle to come back at it," he said. "Unfortunately it ricocheted to the left and almost hit me. Then I tried to play an interesting shot after that and ended up three-putting."

That is what Tiger had to say about the bunker play on #6. How many times have we rank amateurs played a shot we thought would play one way and the ball had a mind of its own and played totally differently. I can answer that question for myself by saying MANY HUNDREDS of times.

As you say VG, golf is a cruel game. But I definitely see light at the end of the tunnel for Tiger.

Did you read that if Tiger didn't win another major for the next 9 years he would be in the same position Jack Nicklaus was for majors at his age. Unbelievable.

Of all the people beside Tiger who could have won yesterday, I am truly delighted the winner was Ernie Els. For one thing, he is now exempt from qualifying for the Masters for the next five years. That is totally awesome IMHO. And Ernie is a very deserving guy who has paid his dues tenfold. WAY TO GO ERNIE!!!

NOW. GO TIGER!! BEAT 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
