I am constantly amazed by how other people know what Tiger is thinking, how he's reacting to a situation, what he needs to do to improve his golf game, who his coach should be, who his coach shouldn't be, and the ridiculous theory that the right woman will correct whatever faults he has. There are dozens of women being treated at the psychiatric office where I work suffering from severe Depression and Anxiety having gotten into a relationship where "he'll change because I love him so much and that's all he needs!!!" Wrong!!!!! Nobody changes unless they choose to change and you can love them till the cows come home, it isn't going to make a difference. Not being a mind reader, I readily admit I have no idea what is best for Tiger at this moment. He's going to have to work it out for himself and he will either succeed at it or not...;.he will either meet someone and fall in love or he will not, he will either be a good father to those children or he will not. As the saying goes "Do not judge me until you have walked a mile in my shoes"!!!!! I believe that he is a good person who has gone through a difficult time that was self-inflicted and deserves respect for having come through it with dignity.
I have long been of the impression that the media and public scrutiny has become so intense that people who are in the limelight cannot live a normal existence. It amazes me that any man (or woman) would want to be President in this day and age and go through what they have to go through to a) get elected and b) withstand the media through 4 or 8 years of their lives. The press (whether it be TV, radio, magazines or newspapers) has gotten far too into the personal lives of celebrities and athletes. In my humble opinion, unless they have committed a crime, it is none of our business! If I were Tiger, I wouldn't talk to the press ever again!
Tiger must truly love the game of golf because I am would think that the recent Masters and Quail Hollow has been very humiliating for him. It cannot be easy to go from the top of the heap to the bottom and still get on that golf course time after time. I greatly admire that resilience in him...a lesser man would have given up a long time ago.
But Tiger isn't the only one who took some heat this week.....poor Bubba Watson ...decided to forego the Players tournament to stay at home with his wife and new baby for a month!!! For him and his family, that was the right choice....why should he be criticized for that?
Well, I've bent your ear long enough.....one can only hope that eventually (like maybe next weekend), Tiger will be able to put it all together and have a decent showing. But a golf game isn't the most important thing in this world....those two beautiful babies are....
