  Wvskybird:

I missed the first airing of O'Reilly's show last  night because I watched CBS's "Undercover Boss".   It was a show with a lady executive from Popeyes.  I enjoy watching hard working employees tell their stories and then at the end of the show get  gifts like college scholarships, donations to their churches and cars.   It is an uplifting CBS series.

Bill's show replays @ 11pm, I recalled this in the nick of time.   I saw the segment about Tiger w/in the dumbest things of the week part of the show.  Of course, Fox News wanted to cover themselves so they included a black lady on the panel with Bill.     The third person,a white man, demonstrated why Fox News is just another form of tv entertainment.    The third member of Bill's panel performed his bit part as a comedian as he refered to Seal the singer.    Mercifully, the segment on Tiger & his news conference etc. was short.

It is sad that so many Americans cannot tell the difference between objective & professional journalism from subjective and entertainment as shown on Fox News and MSNBC.   Both Fox News and MSNBC operate with agendas and exist to brainwash Americans.     It works because too many Americans are merely "mindless" consumers.

Hey B18T,

I did not hear O'Reilly say "everyone" in New Orleans during Katrina were "thugs & addicts" (at The Superdome, or at The French Quarter); which would clearly be ridiculous.

I am sure his comment about "wishing a hurricane would hit the United Nations building" stems from the fact that The United States is the official host (pays all the bills) and grants immunity to foreign diplomats (who sometimes commit crimes against American citizens, including car accident deaths, and more.); while one dictator after another pride themselves on trashing America, and its people, inspite of all we have done for the world.

The worst memory I have of Katrinia, was seeing those people trying to survive (standing on roof-tops; or worse, trying to cross the never-ending (26 mile) Lake Pontchartrain in an over- crowded  pick-up truck) with their kids; YET on the otherhand (the very disturbing photo of) the airline 757 jetliner leaving New Orleans (filled with DOGS, and (4) flight attendants) instead of being filled with PEOPLE and their families!  Perhaps the airplane could have been filled with 350 people (and let them hold the dogs, on their laps).

Shame on the  animal rights groups (for not getting their priorities straight); and shame on the Mayor of New Orleans (and other LOCAL public officials) for allowing six-hundred (600) school buses to sit VACANT (while all those people were left stranded at The Superdome).  Given a capacity of 38- 48 seats per bus; 22,800 to 28,800 people could have been driven to safety (BEFORE hurricane Katrinia came ashore).

Perhaps the public outrage would be better served there.

I am a HUGE pro-football fan; and have organized many (many) group motorcoach tours to The New Orleans Superdome (filled with Atlanta Falcon fans), to play The New Orleans Saints in the biggest sports rivalry in history; however, after Katrinia, they could never clean The Superdome well enough for me to return, after forcing all those people to stay there in those un-sanitary conditions (with no running water, and no electricity) for all that time.  They would have to demolish it, and rebuild it (from the ground  . . . up).

Frankly, I consider Bill O'Reilly a lightweight . . .too much filibuster, and too much sarcasm.  He tends to throw a lot of things out there (open a lot of cans of worms) with his "talking-points memos" (LOL), with too little time for indebt  analysis . . . (unlike PBS-Charlie Rose).  In my opinion, that doesn't make him a racist.

I prefer Sean Hannity (over Bill O'Reilly); Sean gets right to the point (like EYE do).

I view Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity of Fox News as tv entertainers and not journalist.    Their main functions are to entertain, generate ratings & profits for Fox News Corporation and tell Americans what to think.   A real journalist gives the facts and allows the viewer to decide and connect the dots.

Hey Vonames,

I blame the American people, if they choose to "share one brain", and allow someone else to think for them.

Journalists are people too; they ALL have their own personal biases.

Americans should learn to think for themselves (do their own research), and draw their own conclusions.

I said before my company worked Hurricane Katrina and every other hurricane and catastrophic events. That is how I picked up the few PR skills that I have. There is a lot of self serving misinformation that has been spread about Katrina and other current events by O'Reilly and Fox. Last night was just another example but, back to Katrina.
The Katrina mandatory evacuation alert came to late to evacuate the entire city. Another assumption is that the levees failed during the hurricane. That is not true. The hurricane had already passed and it was hours later that the levees broke.  Also there were no arrangements made to evacuate the residents passed the Superdome. Ray Nagin or no other Louisiana official has the authority to send his residents to another state for evacuation. That falls to the federal government.

I remember there were a lot of pets left behind during Katrina especially after the government evacuations started. There were even several groups who went in specifically to rescue pets and no, they were not put on a 747. I don't know where that story came from but, like I said there have been a lot of rumors and misinformation. One of the guys I work with is a reserve in the Marines. He was called to active duty to New Orleans. He said he had to pull his weapon a few times but most people were law abiding citizens. One of my co workers worked out of the Astrodome to assist the evacuees who had lost every thing. A lot of them had lost not only their home but, homes they rented out and several cars. She also dealt with a few of the local celebrities who had lost homes. So everyone was not stranded and needed to depend on the buses to get out.

You're right Bill does not do in depth analysis. There is a reason for that. He can't back up his statements at least not with facts. He throws things out there for shock effect and he's usually twisting the truth.

Real journalists don't exist. I can't tell you how many times I watch and read statements from reporters that I know for a fact is a lie.

I seldom watch Fox News. Back a couple of years ago the network got high and mighty about Tiger and his shortcomings. I did not expect Tiger would be there, unless it was prerecorded. I mean, his focus was certainly elsewhere. I am all for everyone expressing opinions as long as they realize there will be differences. I don't think name-calling, etc. is an especially mature response. Overall, we are adults here, aren't we? :0) So what if some considered the response to Alex Micelli to be dumb. We have all done something similar. Tiger is still flesh and blood like the rest of us. Maybe this was one time he had contracted Foot in Mouth disease.  Personally, I was glad Tiger expressed his feelings in no uncertain terms.

As far as this blip on the screen goes, I am all for letting the whole discussion die a natural death.

Have a good weekend. Go Tiger. We love you!!

Real journalists provide the viewer with the facts and not conclusions.   Over the years, I consider the following people as real journalist ----   Walter Cronkite, Howard K. Smith, Ted Koppel, Tom Brokaw, Christiane Amanpour, George Will and Bob Schieffer, Cokie Roberts etc.
