I have seen Curtis Strange and Mike Tirico work together a few times, like at this yrs Masters they do a really good job.

I don't think Tirico could say a bad word about anybody even if he wanted to.

Doesn't seem to have an axe to grind like so many of today's commentators.

Tirico seems like a really nice guy.

i don't think he knew that much

about golf when he started, but

he hung in and he and Strange

became a great team together.

I recorded the show; but I have not watched it yet.

I remember watching Ken Venturi win the 1964 US Open at Congressional. At that time, they played 36 holes on Saturday. Because of the unusual high temperatures that year, Ken really struggled with heat exhaustion, almost collapsing several times. The doctors on site wanted him to quit after 18 holes. After that us open, they changed it to have only 18 holes each day. Good for Tiger in 2008, I'm not sure he could have done 36 holes on Saturday.

If you remember back in 1998, I believe the old Phoenix open, Tiger got about a dozen fans ( not patrons) to move a large rock out of his line. Ken went crazy about it, saying that it was embedded. Anyway, it is still one of the funniest things that ever happened in a tournament with Tiger.

tcn,

very interesting fact about the US Open.   i never knew that.
i have heard that Ken was very talented in golf.   but he was
a talented commentator too.

and yes!   lol !!   i remember the rock (boulder ) that the fans moved
for Tiger.  it was huge!!!!!!  lol !!! and i think they just volunteered.
lol!!  it took a while, but they got it done.   that was a fun episode in
Tiger golf!!   lol !!

i know some people were for it and some were against it.
something about it was too big to be a moveable impediment,
or something along those lines.  but others said, yes, it can
move and long story short, of course it was moved.   lol !!!
i remember thinking to myself, golf can be really different.

but i just remember how excited those guys were to move
that rock for Tiger.  i mean.  they were literally right there
with him and that had to be a highlight for them even to
this day.

i remember we were at a golf tourney one year.   and went
to the pro am the day before, which is a great time to get
auto graphs.   and one of the people in my group got an
autograph from Tiger while he was waiting to tee off.
and suddenly everyone started trying to get an autograph.
and so this little kid, with his dad, had his piece of paper,
and he was saying something like, Tiger pleaseeeeeee,
in kind of a whiny little kid voice.   and Tiger said. see
what you guys did, or something to that effect.  lol !!!
of course Tiger signed his autograph.

fun times!!!
