Squonk......by the number of your posts it doesn't seem like you have been around this forum too long.....it actually had to be shut down due to all the trolls in 2009. As far as TGC, it isn't necessarily that we think they are anti-Tiger, it is that there have been pros that have had issues that they report as "personal problems" and not ad nauseam in detail like they have done to Tiger. And yes, Chamblee is a bigger offender than the others, Faldo as well and he really is not someone to talk. So yes, you could make the argument that these others were not anywhere near the talent that Tiger is but the piling on was unfair and unequal. Every move he made was scrutinized even away from the course like no other and it has been known for years, even our heroes from days gone by were not discrete about their extra marital affairs. It has even been written about by retired ex-pros turned commentators that it was a well known fact amongst the pros that several had a woman in each stop on the tour. GolfWorld Mar. 2010 or 2011.......good article, interviews from those older pros that witnessed it in their time with one commenting that Tiger's issue would pale in comparison. So, unfortunately TGC IMO became nothing more than a TMZ or National Enquirer like form of media. It begs the question for me, why, when the boys club knows this goes on? Doesn't matter who it is, why the difference and even Faldo's mishaps never went beyond a few references when at the time he WAS at the top of his game. Then from here, that example from TGC gives license for people to use untoward comments regarding Tiger's ethnicity, etc. TGC could have set an example and they chose not to, that too begs the question, why?
Interesting thing I find is that Chamblee was a pro turned analyst yet he can't understand why Tiger is changing his swing. Here it is for you Chamblee.......he wants longevity in his career, now I'm not an analyst but avid golfer and I just ask of them as a viewer, analyze instead of perpetuating this story or feigned rivalry between Phil and Tiger. I watched the 2000 Masters rerun last week and to my surprise actually saw Chamblee at a -1.....looks like he made a good move becoming an analyst when he did. Saw that young phenom 5-6 shots ahead of him and knew his golfing career was over. The sad part is this: Chamblee and Faldo have made a lot of money during Tiger's 10 year run, they are both divorced (Faldo 3 times) but it is a 3 day news cycle. Just like the kid, Every, no matter whether he got lucky or not, he was charged with a crime that exposed weed being smoked as commonplace on the Nationwide Tour. For Every, the charges were dropped but it exposed a criminal problem for Golf and that's all there is? Guess they don't want that, ahem, Gentlemen's Sport Label to be tainted. And for Faldo, regarding that issue, his comments were more about the kid, Every, getting a better publicist essentially disregarding that there is a criminal component to this.
