FYI: from GOLF ChANNEL

On Wednesday, McIlroy confirmed on the network's "Morning Drive" show that he will play Woods in an exhibition match in Zhengzhou, China, on Oct. 29. Both golfers will be in Asia the week prior -- Rory is scheduled to play in the BMW Masters in Shanghai, and Woods has committed to the CIMB Classic in Malaysia. The match will take place the Monday after both events

That will be interesting, although rather meaningless. I'd much rather see a Ryder Cup singles match. Although that is highly unlikely seeing how Ryder Cup matchups are randomly selected.

ESPN had two stories today purported as "breaking news".

First, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will be paired for rounds 1 & 2 at the Barclays on Aug. 21-22.

Secondly,  Nadal will not play the 2012 U.S. Open starting on August 27, 2012 due to a knee problem.

Von,

i heard about Nadal  earlier today.   do you suppose it was

his knees that kept him from playing well @ the British?

Tiger and Rory seem to enjoy being paired together in golf tournaments and they clearly have respect for each other's game. I hope it is not turned into some grudge battle or showdown by the media. It could be a fun exhibition to watch.

Wouldn't surprise me, I checked on Wikipedia and it reported that Nadal withdrew from the 2012 Olympics due to tendinitis in his knee.    Didn't he take sometime off due to exhaustion too?

Yes, sounds like an exhibition sponsored by Shell Oil Co.    Now, it is a wait & see period to learn whether or not Tiger vs. Rory will be shown LIVE on tgc.    If, LIVE, it maybe another "all nighter" for us in the States.     :)

It's strange they never matched up Rory and Tiger when Rory was struggling.

Von,

didn't know about the tendinitis in his knee.

and i wouldn't be surprised if he took off

time from being exhausted too.

would that make federer the odds-on favorite for the us open?

as for the tiger-rory showdown, i digress.

and von, as things come in threes, you forgot the breaking news that joe paterno cried after he was fired from penn state, according to an upcoming gq article.
