WOW!!!  In 2003 Weir won the Master's which elevated him to #3 OWGR.....today he is #1443 OWGR!!  Couple years of injuries and subsequent poor play can do that.  Sure would like to see him not only make cuts but post some good results including a win!!

Sure makes you appreciate how great a golfer Tiger is.....

You said it. Mike Weir has a long road, but if he is the least bit determined as Tiger is, he will make the climb.

i think one thing people generally don't appreciate is how hard golf is.

in most team sports, you only have to be better than your opponent once. when you beat them, it's over and you win (unless it's the World Series or the NBA Finals). but think about that, even...how many times are the World Series and the NBA finals won in a four game sweep? and even at that, they get a day of rest between games.

in golf, you have to be at your best for 4 straight days with virtually no break in between. sure, golf isn't as physically challenging as American Football, but it's every bit as mentally challenging as any other activity out there.

you really have to appreciate that Tiger can perform at such a level for such and extended period of time. the guy is so intense all the time it's almost like he's a machine.

he's an incredible talent and one that we will likely never see again in our lifetimes.

fantastic post, by the way, villages. this is a point rarely made.

Thanks!

There is truly no comparison to an individual sport like golf to a team sport like football/baseball.  One player can be a bit off during a game, but as you said.....golf requires "game on" for four straight rounds!

Oh yes.....we are witness to the greatest golfer of all time!  Not only in what he has done for golf around the world, but how he gives so much of himself (time and $$$) for youth in the US and soon in Thailand through the TWLC's and Earl Woods Scholars program.  An exceptional legacy :-))))
