Are some courses easier than others? The scores in the Canadian Open are  low compared to some scores and its more or less the same players who have played in almost all the previous tournaments but did not do very well. I hope Bridgestone Invitational is not very hard LOL I guess that's where the excitement is. It was the same thing with the Scottish (low) and British Open not as low

Yes some courses are easier than others....perhaps a tad shorter, fewer hazzards, wider fairways, shorter rough, etc.  However......conditions have a greater impact on scoring.  The Canadian Open's scores were a direct reflection of all the rain they had.  For three days, the players were allowed to "lift, clean & place" in the fairways.

I don't mean this in a rude way, but like with everything in life, some things are harder than others. I don't really understand how you don't know that.

Thanks for reply villagesgolfer I have never been to any of these golf courses physically so I do depend on other peoples views and comments.

Come on, do you really think your local country club golf course is just as difficult as golf courses that they play the US Open on? Thats just simple common sense, I don't mean it in a rude way, I just think that anyone that knows the littlest about golf should know that.

Timers:

VG mentions several good points explaining scoring differences; but I'll add a few comments.  In San Antonio, the PGA Tour Valero Open was played in the past on La Cantera resort course. The winning scores were normally around 22-26 under par. The Valero Open is now played at TPC San Antonio, and the winning score this year was  9 under par. I've played both courses, and there is at least 5 strokes difference in scoring average between the courses, if the wind is low. There's a bigger difference with > 15mph wind..

Let's just say, the pro's scores are much lower than mine at these courses, because as they say, "These guys are good".

I have just been watching Tiger's pre-invitational interview and he answered part of my question. The wind conditions do play a big role in player's performance. He wasn't wearing earrings was he? Please don't huff up its just a question. I tried to look hard but he wasn't turning his head enough.
