Ernest Borgnine, who created a variety of memorable characters in both movies and television and won the best-actor Oscar for his role as a lovesick butcher in "Marty" in 1955, died Sunday. He was 95.

Ernest Borgnine was a great character actor.    Maybe, we will get lucky this August and TCM will select many of Ernie's films to show on a single day.       :)

My favorite films of Ernie's were

           1.   "Bad Day at Black Rock"- Ernie played the town bully that Spencer Tracy's one arm character beats up.  2.  "A Catered Affair" -Ernie played Bette Davis' husband that cannot afford it but gives in to Davis' character wishes to have a more costly wedding for their daughter.  3.  "The Poseidon Adventure"- Ernie plays Stella Stevens' loving husband and they have some funny lines in the film.

You highlight some great performances, but how can you leave out "Marty", for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor?

LOL....

Whenever I would go on a cruise I think to myself:  what 3 personalities will die while I'm gone.

And it was always 3.  So bizarre.....
