Tiger tees off 11.05pm UK time. I thought it was late yesterday but this is ridiculous. It must be roughly as late for all the countries in Europe. UK and Europe are just as important as the US in terms of global golf and they have made it stupidly awkward to watch this important event. I will probably stay up on Sunday, certainly not today, but its just a shame that its now going to be so difficult for me to watch and follow this.

Imagine if Tiger does win his 15th major this week, his comeback major, what would be a huge moment for the world of golf, I doubt many people from this region will have stayed up to watch it and the remainder will be half asleep.

Tee times should be earlier to accomodate UK, Europe.

LOL - I get your point but considering the hours I have to watch when he plays the Open or in Australia, it's hard to argue with tee times that accomodate local timezones.

Australia is fair enough because their timezone is so different but in this case 2 hours earlier would make a big difference.

I understand your position, the 2012 U.S. Open is a four day tournament in California.    Hopefully, there will  be no Monday playoff this year.     Here in America we found ourselves with the same problem you expressed in your message.   Remember when the Ryder Cup was played in Wales.    I do because of the time difference between the  U.S. and Wales.    On the final day, the single matches started early in Wales.  Tiger had a 8:30AM tee time which meant a start time of 12:30AM in California and 3:30AM in New York.     It was early I had breakfast with Tiger.   I guess tonight it will be dinner with Tiger.    lol

I get your point, but this is the UNITED STATES Open Championship. They make it to where Americans can watch their national championship. If they set tee times any earlier, it would affect the galleries at Olympic. It would simply be too early to tee the field off in the morning. Quite simply the television ratings for the states will be off the charts because it is in primetime here.

I don't like getting up at 4 AM in the morning to watch the Open Championship, but I do.

Living in Britain I wouldnt care if it finished a few hours earlier or later to accomodate the US situation and I am shocked about that Ryder Cup story, I can only assume it was unusually early tee time. Other sports accomodate global tv audiences with their timings and I am suprised that the US Open hasnt, and golf in general if what you say is true.
