As a person who loves golf and has neither a like or dislike for Tiger Woods I ask you if you think he will be remembered more as a great golfer or a man who repeatedly cheated on his family?  He is the best golfer I've ever seen but at the same time to cheat repeatedly with no regard to his family is equally as bad and equal depths of high and lows if you know what I mean.  I know I'm asking a biased fan base but serious responses only please!  Thank you.

I think history judges people differently... he will be remembered for his greatness but his deep flaws. That's why he is so interesting. He was interesting before the scandal!
I have always liked and admired Tiger however I can't say what he did was ok! But in this life people explore all elements of the human transformation.

We don't know how this will end. If it ends badly (hope not) this generation might scoff at him, but the next generation and others will look at him differently.
He still has a hall of fame career.. you can't take that away from someone!

There is a great deception that everyone thinks the same!

He is most unpopular and his reputation is ruined. He can't go back. He must move forward.
In the end this is a game/sport for our viewing pleasure.... most of the athletes that stand proud on billboards and commercials sold something along the way....
Therefore they all are flawed!

Sadly and honestly I think for most it will be as a cheater especially if that person doesn't play golf.  I'll probably think of both when someone brings up his name only because I play golf which is a shame since he had it all going for himself.  Type "Tiger Woods" into yahoo and "cheater" and "PEDS" pops up automatically.  Thanks for the great question!

Tiger will be remembered for his success on the golf course, first.  But his infidelities will always be in the "undercurrent".  That's true in all cases where famous athletes, politicians, or artists have some "blight" on their resumes.  In the end it won't deter from the fact that Tiger is the greatest golfer of our time, but..........(his injuries and infidelities would be mentioned here they will never go completely away).  It's sad, but true!

Now when I type in Tiger Woods into Google or yahoo I get the current news on him and his biography. You are actually searching for peds and cheating, because that's not on the front page.

I don't know...As more and more men of note in this country do more and more unlikely things, Tiger's shenanigans seem less and less important.

If Tiger comes back and wins on the tour again then his affairs will be a blip in the road.  If he continues to struggle and have injury problems, then he will be remembered as a golfer who had it all and threw it all away.

The key here is that Tiger has to come back and win.  He has to win at least 1 or 2 this year and then like 4 or 5 times next year to erase the last two years of damage.

I agree Bugcurl, good post. Tiger, I actually hope you shelve it for the rest of 2011. Rest, reflect, etc.,. Tell the public whatever you want as to your reasons why. Consider the Masters 2012. To me, you haven't seemed to have been enjoying yourself with public golf (excep for a few hours at 2010 USOpen, and a few hours at this years Masters.) Phil Knight knows a good bet when he sees one, I imagine you guys can hash things out. Long run, you find that zeal again, maybe your kids are your inspiration to play enthusiatically. I personally thank you for inspiring me to play more/better these past 10 years and wish you well in the future.

Yes, Tiger shut it down and get healthy, this year will be the first time you get to be home for Sam's Birthday!! You don't have to tell anyone anything, because they 'll twist it around anyway, so why bother!

Remember... " those who matter don't mind and those who mind DON'T matter!!!!!"

GO TIGER, get healthy. then come back ond KICK BUTTS,  your fans LOVE YOU AND BELIEVE IN YOU!!

His injuries are a given.  He'll struggle if he doesn't take care of them.  Do we care about his short-term legacy?  Or do we care about what's best for Tiger?

If he takes care of himself, he will surely win again and beat Jack, which seems to be so important to him.  If that's what HE wants, then that's what I want, too.
