to all......humble thanks for the positive feedback on my 1st painting.

now i've tried something else:   quick and dirty - it's small, 8" x 10", again with acrylics spritzed with some slow-dri, but this time i used 3 painting knives only, no brushes or fingers!  i did it relatively quickly, 3 hours, (except for the old telegraph poles, which i did this a.m. when everything else was dry);  i kept self-talking  "just the impression", "don't try to copy", "just suggest it".     i am pleased with it, honestly.

i've taken the scene from an old photo, again, our camp , but this was about 10 years ago, before they tore up this portion of the c.n. line.  this is now a logging road and, also,  this area has suffered heavily from deforestation.  i plan to gift this to my father-in-law, for the memories.

i know this won't be for everyone, but i feel that i've been 'observing', during these past few years of getting on with life, and now i have the time, maturity,  or ??  to translate some of these observations, or emotions, through art.  (or maybe it's not that i'm 'expecting' anything other than the meditative peace i'm experiencing while painting!!!)

anyway, please have a gander and let me have it.  also, i hope i'm using this site correctly.

thanks   -v-

Got it Mytyme!

I like this painting very much!

The colours are so natural and autumnal. You have captured the atmosphere very well. Love the old tracks. The only thing that bothered me was the big cloud in the middle. Maybe too big?? It just seems to distract me from the purpose of the whole scene. I am no expert and I am probably totally wrong with my opinion. But it is still a lovely painting. Well done!

I love this, I love what I call this rough and ready style, it has depth and colour and I think it is great, the only thing that I wish , is that the tree line wasn't so straightish. some of the side trees would look better going up into the sky more I think, what do you think? I can't wait for the train to amble along.
