Discussion: Kitchen remodeling > Laminate Flooring -- Dupont
5 of 5
I strongly advise against this product as opposed to other laminates. There have been multiple complaints for HomeDepot and Dupont on the RealTouch Elite line. The problem (as we unfortunately discovered first hand) is that the pressboard composite underneath the laminate covering is not strong enough for tapping (hammering) in. It shatters easily from the sides, making a tight fit and clean seams nearly impossible in many settings. The weakness of this composite also means that during the cutting and jointing process it still will shatter and mar making a tight fit impossible in the tongue and groove. Several forums bloggers have reported better luck with it in very small, regular spaces, with no overhanging cabinets where tight tapping in is necessary because of floor/wall molding. Hope this helps.
