HI!! I have a question--------------i had both hips replaced just one year ago-----------they both seemed fine-----but, now i notice the thighs feel tight and really hurt---------sometimes just one or sometimes both-------and then, painful to walk...

I just saw the surgeon this week--and explained the above and he said it sounded like bursitis------and ordered an anti-inflmmatory gel to put on 4x a day-------have not seen any change ----yet.  I do take Celebrex regularly---so, thought that might help, also........   So, i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem--and will it go away?????????

Thank you. Hugs, Sunflowers

If it is bursitis, there are 2 things you could do as well as the gel...if you can get access to a physio, I have found ultrasound is very helpful, but if it is really bad, then you really need a cortisone injection, which could really help...

Hugs,

Heather

Hi Heather--------good to hear from you!!!!!!  I am doing the gel---------and decided to try my muscle relaxant--thought maybe it is muscle spasms-------ugggggg--always trying to figure this body out!!!!!! LOL  However, i will consider the Pt--------i know the doc. would say yes--------and i do see my rhemy in about 2 weeks--and will ask about the cortisone if the other attemps dont work!!!!!!!! Thank you for both suggestions-------------great ideas. I really appreciate the thoughts.........

How are you doing????? Are you have alot of concerts now-------------or will there be more around the holidays??

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Hugs, Sunflowers

Hi Sunflowers! Yes, the orchestra is really busy at the moment! I shouldn't be up at the moment-I should be in bed, because we were in Nottingham tonight and I only just got back, and then we are leaving for London at 10.30am tomorrow, and back very late tomorrow night!

In fact, we are in the middle of a mini tour in the UK doing concerts with Asian musicians, playing Quwalli music with a singer called Rafat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It is Sufi Muslim folk music, but also has some devotional music thrown in, and the singers all improvise for long periods of time, until the audience gets the message. There is constant drumming, which is amazing, but very loud, and very persistent, but they are amazing musicians! The main singer is a Sufi Muslim mystic, and I am not very happy doing the pieces which are singing the praises of Allah, as I am a Christian and find that very awkward: I am  sure they would not want to be forced to play Christian music either!! But I have no choice as to whether I play it or not!

I actually love Bollywood type music, and a lot of Indian music that is non-devotional, and the orchestra did a Bollywood tour last year, resulting in a recording with a very famous Bollywood singer paying tribute to Mahammed Rafi...So I am not racist at all, and I admire their musicianship enormously! Their improvisational skills are quite astounding, but I do actually wish I could refuse to play in these concerts on religious grounds! My body is rebelling too, as we have lots of notes to play in this programme, and we are all starting to feel the phyiscal strain of it (I am also exhausted-I missed the orchestra bus today and had to drive to Nottingham which isnt far, but my back didn't like it, and then the Sat Nav got me completely lost trying to get out of Nottingham, and what should have been a journey of about an hour took 2 hours!!)

Well, I had better go to bed now! Hope things improve for you soon,

Hugs,

Heather

Hi Heather! How are you doing?????? Oh my-------you have really had a hectic schedule-----------i got exhausted just reading it-----only kidding--but---------sure is alot to keep up with-----------how does your body behave????? I am sure to do sleep or rest any chance you can get!!!!!!!!

I am doing------fair---------i did start taking the muscle relaxant--and the thighs seem better -------------- less pain -------------and tenderness.I have stopped using the cream the doc. ordered----------so i can see if the muscle relaxant is helping-----------or not--------then, maybe will just use the cream----------always a trial and error situation in life!

Take care--------hope you are feeling up to all the busy schedule! Hugs, Sunflowers
