I don't like to talk about my cancer and what I went through and the ensuing consequences. It's not necessary. Many of you know what pain and sickness is about from tending and caring for a sick mother or father, child or other loved one. Each of have "been there", only the degree differs.
My point is that the time has come to do something to help each other live a life that affords the means for easing, controlling or eradicating pain. The time has come for universal health care. We may argue the political aspects of that, but we must not confuse or cloud the need --the basic truth, if you will-- for helping people live a more worry-free life. That's what universal health care is all about.
Tonight Keith Obermann devoted his entire one hour Countdown program to a Special Comment on the topic of health care. Think of him what you will if just the mere mention of his name provokes ill thoughts; but watch and listen to his presentation. By our humanity we are connected and as such, I know all of us think about the issue of health care. Single, married, rich, poor, it doesn't matter. We are all in the same boat when it comes to being concerned about dying because we have no health insurance.
