As a native Chicagoan, I was able to be in Joe Louis Arena Friday night when the Blackhawks beat the Red Wings, 3-2.
After watching the Hawks beat the Wings in Chicago on television (yes, we get home and road games in Detroit on the tube), and how they came back from 2-goal deficits each time, you can tell this is a different team. It appears this bunch of kids is willing to battle to the end, compared to the past when the Hawks would get down a couple of goals and you knew the game was over.
Despite being down 2-0 in the first period last night, I waited patiently and the Hawks came through. The one glaring need is to improve the power play, where the Hawks had trouble despite plenty of chances. But, I thought they settled down after giving up the two goals.
Maybe this is the year I can cheer for the Blackhawks, and not my seudo team (Red Wings) in the playoffs. |
