Has anyone read this? "The Origins of the New Testament, Part IV: The Oral Period" by Bishop Spong.
After I read it, I noticed that he(Spong) touched upon some of the topics I have a beef with. 1. He doesn't differentiate between a Jew and an Israelite/Judean. 2. He doesn't discuss the origin or need for Synagogues after the destuction of the first Temple.
Over the period I've post on this Forum, I've attempted to show evidence of a conspiracy by the Pharisees led by the Apostle Paul to form a religion for the Goy for the benefit of the Romans. The oral traditions Bishop Spong is discussing are those which stem from a Septuagint version of the Israelite Torah which was provided to the Pharisaic brotherhood by the people transplanted by the Assyrians when the Ten Tribes were captured and removed from Samaria. (2Kgs.17:1-34)
It has been my contention that the Jewish Scholars commissioned by PtolemyII to translate the Hebrew Scriptures into the Greek language after Alexander's defeat of Medo-Persia and his death, was done from the faulty sources first acknowledged at 2Kgs.17:24-34. These Jewish Scholars, were proselytes to the Judaic belief, and never possessed the original Torah to translate. See Ezra.7:14.
When the political aspect of the Israelite/Judean Nation is analyzed over the 70yr period of their captivity in Babylon, not one Synagogue was erected by them to worship their God in. Why was this? It was because, this Iraelite/Judean Tribe had in their possession the original and redscovered books of Moses' Torah Law(Ezra.7:11-14), which prohibited erecting any edifice in horor of their God, other than where HE would place HIS Name. Deut.12:13-14. This is a specified location and a specific edifice prescribed by the God of Israel, that the Iraelite/Judeans knew better than to disobey. A former Pagan, now judean/proselyte would not know the ramifications inherent in taking this Edit lightly. Thus, only one of the pitfalls in plagerizing the religion of another and erecting Synagogues.
There's a passage in Ezra.41-3, where these Synagogue builder/worshipers proffered their services to reerect the 2nd Temple, using the lame excuse "while you were gone from here, we remained, all the time worshipping the same god as you", hoping this would soften the attitude of the Israelite/Judeans toward them. This afront of having their offer flung back into their faces by the Judean's refusal of their help, illicited a response that caused the Israelite/Judean's benefactor, the Medo-Persian king, to issue a proclamation against them,(Ezra.6:11-12) which inturn, motivated them to seek aid from Egypt. Thus the presence of this Proselyte Jew in Egypt to be used by the Greek ruler PtolemyII, to translate their faulty Torah into the Greek Language, aka, The Septuagint.
What becomes glaringly obvious, as one peruses the books of Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah, is the political relationship that developed between the Medo-Persian Empire and the now emancipated Tribe of Judah. The Israelite/Judean people are now under the protection of the greatest empire of the known world at the time and thus the ally of Medo-Persia, thanks to a form of foreign policy first practised by King Solomon on a large scale, that became know in today's terminology as "B.D.(bedroom diplomacy). So, as these facts also make glaringly clear; All Judeans Are Iraelites, but All Jews are not Israelite/Judeans, nor were any of the Jews under the protection of the Medo-Persian empire or enemies of the Greeks. So, as we read this IV chapter of the Oral History of the N.T. origins, keep in-mind the faulty Septuagint source Paul was instructed from by Gamaliel and Hillel, both of the Pharisaic brotherhood themselves. As both Matt.23:15 and Rev.2:9 proclaim; "those with eyes to see and ears to hear...."
