I understand the essays from Bishop Spong are being discontinued via the internet. I learned this when my subscription expired and wasn't automatically renewed as in the past. This is my first post and I look forward each week to his essays as well as the message boards. Peg |

I changed credit cards so wasn't automatically renewed. In fact I had to call Prospero to get renewed as I couldn't get the computer to take my other credit card. Did they notify you that JSS essays won't continue on the internet? I hope they do as I have gotten very used to having them.

I surely hope this is not true. I enjoy both the essays and the message board tremendously.
I had read somewhere that this last book he has written will be his last book he expects to write, however, he was planning on continuing the essays.
Hopefully someone will update us all on this status.

I was at Bishop Spong's evening lecture in Newmarket, Ontario, organized by Holy Cross Church, in mid September 09.
He asked all to submit questions, and said that he uses these following his weekly essays.
He also said that he will continue to write his essays as long as folks show their interest by subscribing.

I need to clarify my first message. When my subscription didn't automatically renew I called Waterfront Media and it was the person I spoke to that said they would be discontinuing the essays and questions. He also said he himself would miss reading the essays and questions and he didn't know who would pick it up. So maybe there is hope yet that if Waterfront drops it some other media will pick it up. I'm sorry for the confusion. At this time, there are NO plans to discontinue the essays, questions, Web site, or newsletter. We're happy that we'll be continuing to bring you Bishop Spong's writings and to be able to host our wonderful discussions here on the message boards.
