We only got a 2nd round pick for a former pro-bowl quarterback? Hope the Viking brass knows something that we don't - just seems like we just got cheated!
I like Brad Johnson, but .......who else will we have at QB? Any chance we can trade up for Matt Lineart? |

Is Mike Lynn chuckling? Can the author of the most egregiously bad trade in NFL history stop from chuckling at the irony in today’s trade news? Now the same franchise holds the record for both paying the most for a washed up player and receiving the least for a game-changing, MVP-quality, franchise QB. I can hear the laughter emanating from NE Illinois, NE Wisconsin, and eastern MI (and all points in between and beyond). But hey! We signed Chester Taylor! And he’ll look really sharp in the new purple pants! At least I can watch Dolphin games on Sunday Ticket.

| I've been a Viking fan for forty years and I really don't know how I feel. I continue to wonder if Mike Tice would have been fired after his second year things might have been played out differently. I love Randy and Daunte but realize that the team is more important than individual egos. Hopefully, we have a plan that will compensate for giving away two great players and receiving so little in return. |

Self annointed Jedi knight publicly discraces team on Minnetonka while going 2-5 as starting quarterback. 12 interceptions with 6 touchdowns while looking like a rookie behind a bad line. Cannot read defenses, and threatens OL with fines for missed blocks. 38-42 as a starter, while looking great with a lead, he always pressed too much in the clinch with hardly any big comebacks or big wins. Totally devestated knee that will have to be strong as ever to carry the 265# player. Decided shortly after injury that he didn't want to be in Minnesota by moving back to Florida against the wishes of the team, then snubs new coach by not meeting with him when in town. He might get back to the pro-bowl, but I would rather have a serviceable quaterback that can win big games than a stat machine that folds under pressure. The Vikes traded him to Miami, which is right where he wanted to go, so he should be grateful to the Vikings for that. A pro bowl player for a second round draft pick doesn't look good on paper, but team chemistry and a chance for someone else to step up is worth something.

| Moss was the most talented player but was too immature to be a leader the other men on the team could respect. Daunte was given the chance to take over leadership of the team in Moss's absence and he failed miserably. He has since shown his immaturity and Miami will suffer until he grows up. Brad has shown throughout his career tremendous leadership qualities and last year was able to LEAD the team through a very difficult period. What the Vikings need are MEN that are capable of being leaders not talented children that pout and deflect blame when they fail. Matt Birk seemed to be the defacto adult in the lockerroom and his return will help immeasurably. The fact that the Vikings got anything in return let alone a 2nd round draft pick is a victory to me. It very well could have been that they would be forced to release Crypepper outright with no compensation whatsoever. I'm looking forward to the Vikings going forward with a clean slate, new ownership, new coaching staff without two children that were holding them back. |

I notice you said "former pro-bowl QB"...time will tell if DC can get to that level again. He has proven to football fans and coaches that he doesn't have the smarts or patience to take what the defense gives him and loves to take chances up and down the field. This is a sign of weakness. He relys on his strong arm to get the job done, rather than working within the offense and his reads. I doubt that Culpepper will make the pro-bowl ever again, unless it's asa back-up. The Patriots, Browns, Bengals and the like will chew him up and spit him out. He needs to grow up and understand he can't win games by out throwing the defense. Brad Johnson doesn't have the arm to do that, understands that, and wins games and a super bowl doing just that. This trade is something that had to happen. DC was unhappy with authority, so let him take himself somewhere else. Just be glad the Vikings got a second round pick...it was looking like he was going to be released without one until the Fin's stepped in. |

At least they are addressing the REAL need....which is better offensive lineman. don't be mad that daunte is a millionaire getting lap dances on a sweet boat on minnetonka while your wife is 100 pounds overweight & would break your kneecaps trying to sit on you!! (although, i'm sure his wife will have something to say!!) this trade will haunt us more than moss trade because, after this years draft, there seems to be only mediocrity at that position coming out of college for at least the next 5 years. do your homework people!
