| Happy belated V DAY! What did you guys have to eat yesterday? Any special recipes...restaurants? Nothing special here. PB and J for breakfast... spicy chicken enchilada for lunch... salad and chicken and noodles for dinner. Oh, low fat vanilla icecream and one V COOKIE for desert. I bore myself :) |

Yeah, yeah...wait till you become an AARP member, am82. btw- just finished eating a 4 egg white omelet,w/2% prov cheese, and 3ozs of low fat ham. Mopped it up with a home made biscuit. Gonna wait one hour and have some herbal tea. Remember, I am training for tennis, so I need a little bit of carbs, right. Steel cut oats w/bananna and yogurt for breakfast followed a couple hours later by some interval training. I feel good!! |

| Don't you ever cheat on your diet? Most of the experts (Bill Phillips, etc) recommend one cheat day each weak. |

the common person has no self-control or insight. which is why telling them "ok, saturdays are your cheat day" can shoot 'em in the foot. people will figure "it's cheat day. awesome. now i'm gonna go to (pick a restaurant franchise) have a couple of beers, the fried onion blossom, and fettuccini alfredo. then the fudge chocolate lava cake for dessert. it's ok, because Bill Phillips says so." you just know they're gonna eat like 2-3 days worth of calories (mostly junk calories) all in one sitting, if they get that "official cheat day." like the saying goes: 'give 'em an inch, and they'll take a mile.'

Seriously now.I know it will be hard for you but I have confidence in ya big guy. The change in lifestyle eating (not diet, we know they don't work)that I am now on also calls for a cheat day once per week.Got it from The Abs diet get fit stay fit from Men's Health. It does however tell you not to over indulge just eat something in moderation that you miss having. So I bought a pizza Saturday and had 3 slices as compared to my usual which was one pizza for me and one for the rest of the brood. So am I on the wrong track here.Per the book studies found that "men who ate twice as many calories in a day as they normally did increased their metabolism by 9% in the 24 hour period that followed".And that period is a workout day.Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. "The common person has no self control". Since undergoing my change in eating I have had 3 drinks in 17 days as compared to my usual pint of vodka and a six pack per night. Awe Snap!

I will try not to step on am's toes here. Cheat day aside, if you are averaging, lets say, 1800 calories per day then you should fluctuate the total daily amount of calories consumed. So, on one day eat 1200 calories, 2000, 1400, 1,800, etc. Try not to eat over 500 calories at one time. The weight will fall off. Just read an interesting fishing article in the Las Vegas Review Journal, talking about the joys of kayaking while fishing. |

[Got it from The Abs diet get fit stay fit from Men's Health. It does however tell you not to over indulge just eat something in moderation that you miss having.] I believe in that "something in moderation" part. But not in an official "cheat day." All the crappy food out there is known as "comfort food." It's addicting for some. Me, personally, I compare it to someone who hasn't had a smoke in years. Or someone who had drug abuse issues and has been clean for a while. Just imagine what may happen if they get that cigarrette between their lips or that rehabbed person getting his/her hands on a gram of rock. They'll just fall apart. I firmly think that there are similar chances (not guarantees necessarily) of that happening in terms of food choices. [Per the book studies found that "men who ate twice as many calories in a day as they normally did increased their metabolism by 9% in the 24 hour period that followed".And that period is a workout day.] I'd have to get the whole exerpt on that. I don't quite follow. |

6 pack per night or per weekend? Invest that extra change in a personal training session here and there. It can expedite the weight loss process. Too many people are afraid to check it out. Or "commit." Ohhhhh, scary word. |

Six pack plus vodka per night.7x's per week. Some nights more! Now have 2-3 drinks total on weekends only. Entering 3rd week of program today.Sunday Feb. something. 22nd or 23rd. Increase in muscle mass is becoming noticeable and am starting to push more weight but am adding the weight at a slow pace.I do not want to be injured again. A little disappointed in weight loss though. Only lost 3 pounds.Clothes feel looser so it may be the muscle mass. But you know how it is you want to see the pounds melt off quickly. But perhaps this is the best way in the long run as people who seem to lose a lot of weight quickly seem to put it back on plus more. You can not diet! You need to change how you eat. I will keep in mind your rec on the cheat day. Will practice moderation. May even cut the cheat day out.
