I know many of you were searching for fault with the offense, specifically of course the QB. I won't name names, no need to, you KNOW who you are. But like I said it wasn't the QB's fault. It was the OLineman's faults for allowing those guys to jump, without:

1) Punching them in the gut

or

2) Finishing off their blocks, and driving those guys into the ground

or

3) Creating passing lanes.

Here is what the COACH said:

It wasn't an error-free day. McNabb was sacked twice and the four batted passes, Reid said yesterday, were partly because the linemen didn't finish off their blocks.

"I think you have to keep pressure on the guy," Reid said. "You can't allow him to jump."

Will he admit to being wrong when DMAC is the QB opening day 2010?
I doubt it.

Most of Don's batted passes were in three-step drops, correct? Well let me explain what the defensive line is taught to do in a three-step drop: Once the D-Line recognizes that it's a three-step drop, they are taught to get their hands up. This is because it is virtually impossible to get to a QB on a three-step drop, and the only way a defense can defend against it is by getting their hands up. Thus, the O-Line is supposed to get into the midsection of the defenders, specifically D-Ends. Why? Well, when you are getting drilled in the gut, what happens??? YOUR ARMS COME DOWN. With this being said, it is pretty obvious who is at fault for the batted passes: The O-Line. You can't block a three-step drop passively, because if the defense can get their arms up, that is all they can ask for. The O-Line has to do a better job getting into their man on all drops, not just three-step, or this will be a continuous pattern the rest of the year.

P.S.- I have very good knowledge on this subject because during my senior year we went through a two-week funk where we had 3 or 4 batted balls each game. On film, we realized the linemen were failing ot get into their men, much like the Eagles' O-Line on Sunday if you watched closely during the replays...

Not to complain but suppose if 2 or 3 of those batted balls resulted in TOvers and 1 or 2 returned for scores....could of been possible.

I wish you would go through all this trouble when people are talking about other facets of this team. lol

You only make posts regarding what somebody said about your man crush.

Take a week off, you'll stop caring. Trust me.

When you see your favorite player get undeservingly trashed for so long, I think it's understandable that Greek is defensive of McNabb. Does he get a little carried away sometimes? Probably, but it's surprising considering the absurd abuse that Donovan takes on here...

Well the debates have been going on forever. Obviously whatever he is trying to do isn't working. So my advice for him and anybody is to stop caring. These debates are annoying and aren't even fun anymore. I would start up a thread about the game but somehow it would turn into DMAC and it would start by either McNabbettes or McNabb haters. You could talk about special teams and it would take a turn for the worse.

As for the arguing over D-Mac, both ways, I completely agree with you. Couldn't agree more. It's so pointless. I definitely hope for an end to it because no matter what the stats and performances say, both sides find ways to twist everything so it reflects well on their thinking...it's a joke, for sure...only reason I chimed in is because I think it's unfair to just call-out Greek without mentioning the whole group of them...

Imagine that....

I never even read your posts, I just skim for 'this line' after every game.

did you not consider
low trajectory?
no surprise its heresy
high velocity, low trajectory
goes along with lack of accuracy
and snuff out blocks on line of scrimmage
along with telegraphing with your eyes
doesn't help to disguise
as the defenders realize
where you're going to throw
i know
you don't
you should face it
but you won't

<<<did you not consider

that's what I see. on his short passes he was really low gunning passes in. It allowed him to be accurate...but it also put the ball right at the D-lines level.

I thought it was pretty easy to see...other than cut blocking D-lineman or opening up bigger holes in the line....they were gonna have a shot at the ball.

I guess the option is to get the ball up over the defensive lineman, sort of like the strike that Eli threw to Quentin Demps.

It takes both. Qb can play a part, so can a DL getting good push and being allowed to jump. I would say some of the ones in that game were obviously the latter, one that I was more on McNabb.

It's a timing offense, DL will get the timing eventually as well.

I do defend undeserving criticism of ANY player, not just DMAC. But when does ANYONE on this team get blamed for someone elses failure? NEVER. Thats when.

Actually DJAX is probably my favorite player.
But no one else on the team gets so much flak for everyone elses screw ups.

It is simple geometry and physics I thought.

To throw a shorter pass accurately the trajectory must be lower.

Never mind, you guys always disregard what the coach says anyways

every pass doesn't need to be a bullet when you can anticipate the throw.

But no need to go into that...5 had an awesome game...I'll take 4 or 5 batted passes if 16 or 17 are right on the money.

I can agree with that....5 had a guy in face on one pass...it happens. The batted passes were annoying but I don't think they were an issue in the game.
