Got an account before I went ot college b/c it seemed like a way to stay in touch with the friends from HS that weren't the people you always hung out with, or the people that you wouldn't text/talk to on a daily basis while at college. I was always anit-myspace/facebook, but it isn't too bad and it really does help you stay in touch...anybody on here have an account?

Dude, if you went through life always listening to warnings like that you wouldn't be living much of a life. There's really not too much harm that can be done through Facebook, unless you really overdo it and give away too much information. If you're smart about it you don't have a whole lot to worry about...

My boss talked me into it back in February. I always said it was for teenagers and HS'ers but I was wrong. I've gotten reunited with tons of friends from HS, College, Philly and otehr places that I lived. I actually enjoy facebook and I'm glad my boss talked me into it!

Dude you can't really believe that stuff. Who cares if the CIA knows half the stuff in that dumb youtube video, people volunteer the info with no problem.

Facebook and Twitter are more like a narcissist's playground. I was on there for a few months and realized that it got pretty annoying pretty fast. I could really care less about the daily mind-grinding minutia people posted. I check it out once in a while at this point.

Not here.

IMO, I still think MySpace and FaceBook should be reserved to anyone under 20. After you're legally allowed to drink, you're spending too much time at home.

Besides, too much information about yourself can't be good.

My friend posts about 100 new pictures a month. Whenever he carries his camera around, I stay away.

Facebook is like MySpace for adults. Nice way to reconnect and stay in touch. That said...I'd leave the "baby just lost his tooth" posts for the women. Feel free to go nuts with the sports banter though!

I created an account with a false identity, checked it out and never logged on again.

Sometimes the people with the tin foil hats aren't wrong. Bush took away many civil liberties we take (er TOOK) for granted. Obama said he would reverse that, but has failed to broach that subject since his election.

The whole "I've got nothing to hide, why shouldn't I show people what music I like/others my political orientation/police what is in my trunk" is a slippery slope. Orwell's 1984 is a warning, not a blueprint!

I have an account but I rarely go to it. It is kind of annoying to me because you have these people that post every freaking thing that they are doing throughout the day like I should give a sh^t. Then you have these people that are into the farm town crap and all of these stupid games. It is a good place to find people from your past. However, I have realized that there is a reason why those people are in my past and who really cares what they are doing today. My wife facebooks a lot and tries to make friends with just about everyone that she has run into over the years so she can say how many friends she has on facebook. It is freaking silly. If you have not talked to someone in 15 years then they are not a friend.

I use it as more of a "hey, how's things going?" type of tool because I'm only 8 months removed from high school. However, I agree with you on the constant status updates, it is extremely annoying and that's why I take no part in it...

I disagree with you...you make myspace (don't have one)/facebook as dangerous or as safe as you want, based on the degree of information you are willing to offer...
