General Eagles discussion -  It's a menu, not a joystick and other BSnotify me whenever anyone posts in this discussionSubscribe

We ran the ball very well, right from the start. The Weaver TD run was directly at a blitz, and keeps the D Line back. For those that say playcalling doesn't matter, it's just a menu not a joystick, you're foolish. Balance is the key, anyone who watches football should know that by now. Opens things up. Like all those passes over the middle, which we can't throw, inside the "circle".

Some aren't happy, you can see it. They post about how any QB could do that, etc. Is there enough weapons now (after we used a first, second, and second on them with them saying we never needed an upgrade)? No excuses this week, as the guy does nothing but give excuses why it's meaningless victory yesterday, the latest is the Giants aren't good enough to compete for the playoffs.

If the Eagles win against the Giants, and you have to be negative like that, I question your fanhood, period.

This is why I called you weak last week for saying we didn't stand a chance, you know who you are.

Whenever we win with McNabb, we get this

"But their entire team looked terrible. Did we make them look that way? IDK"

No biggie, just answer it.

IMO...

Yes, the defense made Eli & the Giant's O look terrible.

Yes, the S/T made the Giant's coverage teams look terrible.

Yes, McNabb & the WRs made the Giant's secondary look terrible*

Yes, Reid's game plan made Coughlin's look terrible

and so on.

* Yes some other teams have made the Giant's secondary look terrible but they were some pretty prolific passing teams. The Giant's secondary has been somewhat depleted but you play, and hopefully exploit the weaknesses of the teams on your schedule.

It was a solid game all around, I hope they can all maintain this level of play.

<<<it's just a menu not a joystick, you're foolish.>>>

the prevailing notion is AR scripts his 1st 15 or so plays...

well lets put that to the test.

Here is a break down of the Eags 1st 10 plays from the previous 3 games.

Phi vs TB

1 - pass shotgun (McNabb scramble)
2 - pass (Maclin TD)
3 - pass (Celek 5 yds)
4 - pass (Avant incomplete)
5 - pass (3rd and 5) sacked
6 - run (B-west 3yds)
7 - run (B-west 0 yds)
8 - pass (3rd and 7) Avant 12 yds
9 - wildcat (B-west 5yds)
10 - pass (B-west -3 yds)

7 passes 3 runs
2 of the passes 3rd and long
1 of the passes thrown behind the LOS (most likely a screen to the RB)

Oak vs. Phi

1 - pass out shotgun (3 yds to b-west)
2 - pass out shotgun (incomplete to Djax)
3 - pass (3rd and 7) sack
4 - pass DJax 22 yards
5 - wildcat Vick run (-4 yds)
6 - Shady run 3 yards
7 - pass (3rd and 11) sack
8 - pass (B-west 4 yards)
9 - pass TE incomplete
10 - pass (3rd and 6) Maclin incomplete

8 passes / 2 runs
2 of the passes to the RB
3 of the passes on 3rd and long

Philly vs deadskins

1 - B-West run
2 - B-West run
3 - pass (3rd and 2) Celek
4 - run Djax 67 yards TD
5 - pass (Maclin 6 yds)
6 - pass (Maclin 16 yds)
7 - pass (1st and 15) Maclin 11 yds
8 - run (mccoy 3yds)
9 - run (weaver 1 yd)
10 - run (B-West 5 yds)

6 runs /4 passes

So what does this tell me...

AR is likely to pass on 1st down, most of which seem to go to the RB or TE. (WCO)
AR is likely to pass on 3rd and long. (common sense)

Execution seems to dictate our playcalling.

Most of the btching I noticed was still with regards to the Raiders' game: "See what happens when you have an effective running game!"

It's kind of a shoulda woulda coulda thing, because that game is in the past, but if Reid is paying attention, he obviously needs this message re-enforced, because he too often lapses at critical times.

Funny, you left off the Giants game, wonder why...

I don't see how pass pass, pass pass, to run run means it's only execution. That's the start of each of those, you don't see any difference? LOL.

5 of the 1st 10 plays against the gnats...pass

We still threw on 1st down 2 outta 4 times

We still threw on 3rd and long.

Execution was about the only thing to truly change.

Credit where credit is due:

1) It's the freaking NY GIANTS. Wins against them or Dallas are never easy and count for double.

2) Scoring so many points against the top-ranked defense in the league is making a statement during just the right game.

That's not balance merv, 50/50? LOL.

"We still threw on 1st down 2 outta 4 times"

50/50 again, that's not balance? LOL

"We still threw on 3rd and long."

This proves what exactly? Passing on a pass down? ooooooh, it's passing all the time that's the problem.

Actually I've always felt that if the Eagles win just 6 games a year by beating the Giants,Cowboys and Redskins, the season was somewhat of a success.

I dunno, I guess the past two weeks performances make some people hesitant to get all giddy about yesterday's.

I myself am very pleased with yesterday's game. But I'm also hoping the past 2 weeks were hiccups and yesterday is the norm rather than the exception. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

>>>Yes, the defense made Eli & the Giant's O look terrible.<<<<

I agree and disagree.. Eli is an AVG NFL QB. Ppl talk about DMAC's inconsitent play, they should look at Eli's games more closely.

Big difference is. Eli has MORE bad games, than DMAC, Eli isn't asked to pass as much as DMAC, and when Eli has a bad game, it usually involves KILLER INTS..

The rest I am in complete agreement with.

McNabb is leaving at the end of this year minus a miracle.

That's what this contract indicates to me.

Will he admit to being wrong when DMAC is the QB opening day 2010?
I doubt it.

lmao. You do realize 5 out of 10 is EXACTLY balanced, and 2 out of 4 is,, well, you get the point. I hope.
