I recently purchased a beautiful navy-blue Legacy GT Ltd wagon with the manu-matic transmission. My thoughts:

Outstanding engine. Poor brakes. Drinks premium gas like a drunken sailor. Great interior. Great reliability. Fantastic seats. Lacks memory power setting for seat, mirror, etc. Lacks traction control - which can be bad on snow with 250 peaky horsepower just waiting to be unleashed. Probably the best non-manual transmission out there. Not as much room as you think it has, but it's a great looking sport wagon.

Annoyances include the keyless entry system (you would think the car would know that if the driver's side door is unlocked once, you wouldn't have to unlock it again before the other doors unlock), the "mind of it's own heating/air conditioning system, poor range.

I love this car. It's head and shoulders above anything in the price range - which is plain Vanilla to the Legacy's Heavenly Hash. I tested the Passat wagon just before the Legacy and nearly fell asleep. I fell in love with the Legacy as soon as I broke 100mph coming out of the first cloverleaf. However, don't buy it if you need family transportation with one or more baby seats - it's pretty tight.
