Out of my area of comfort here. A neighbour has asked me to try and obtain a DVD of The Ghost Goes West (Rene Clair) in English and French. The latter - subtitles I assume. DVD seems to exist but unavailable(?) - this is strange territory for me so any help much appreciated.

Network stubbornly refuse to subtitle so this will have none. Flick is retitled Ghost for Sale in France apparently.

that's a vhs tape.
There's an american Robert Donat collection http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Donat-Collection-Count-Cristo/dp/B0012Y0XUK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1257625092&sr=1-1
american releases frequently have french & spanish subtitles, so you could try to investigate if this release does have subtitles (none are listed, but we all know about amazons accuracy)

I thought as much - although they're not a real bottom of the barrel budget label are they?

Absolutely not, but they seem to target the uk market only.
Quality of product not any worse than any of the major studios

There is a French DVD illustrated on the IMDB site with a note that it has French and English - I assume French subtitles - but I can't find the DVD listed for sale anywhere. But I don't know what other sites (than Amazon, eBay etc) I should be looking on
