OK - there is a book I would like for myself, just to read, but it is a First Edition too so I'd quite like a decent copy. Offered by WOB, Greener, Awesome at around 70p in hardback. I've not bought from any of them before so which would you recommend (if that's a word you could use in this situation)?

Suggestions please.

Thanks, Sue

I've bought a few from WOB and each time it's been fast delivery and condition better than expected.

I've ordered from Awesome before and that was fine too, quick, limited packaging (just in jiffy) but arrived in very good condition anyway.

It's always a bit of a lottery with suppliers who don't grade books and use only generic descriptions, which is why there is still a gap in the market for smaller suppliers with more expensive prices but who do describe their books on an individual basis

You could end up with a book in first class condition from any of these or a book that is borderline acceptable. Both Greener and Awesome classify everything as Good so there will be many delighted customers who actually get a book in VG condition.

In my experience all of these chaps are quite efficient, and WOB , to date, have been the best packagers

Thanks for your comments - I went with WOB as they were cheapest and VG rather than Good. I only want to read it anyway but I do like nice, clean books so fingers crossed.

They tend not to mention if it's ex-library and first editions often are, but you might get lucky.

Its always a gamble with the big sellers.

I have received both mint and ex-library copies for items listed as very good from WOB. The odds are 80% in favour of you getting a descent copy, though.

They have terrible customer services if things do go wrong. I sent three emails asking to return the ex-library copy , all unanswered. I did get a refund two months later for it, though, without explanation or apology..

I have always had very good service from Greener.  I had the wrong book recently from Awesome but was very impressed by their customer service and the trouble they took to rectify a mistake over a very cheap book.  I have not had any dealings with WOB.  I think they are Borders under another name.

Have bought off all 3 several times. Will not buy off Awesome again. WOB and Greener are both fine.
