 General -  Sales collapse

I don't know about the rest of you but I am suffering here with sales that are down to a maximum of 2 a day (from around an average of 7). The downward trend has been noticeable for about six weeks now and seems to be accelerating.

I checked my listings (6259) and the majority seem to be either the lowest for condition or at least competitive.

The strange thing was I went on holiday settings for a fortnight at the beginning of October but turned them back on 3 days before I got home. The first day I got no fewer than 7 orders, after that it dwindled down to its present sad state.

The items I have been selling are £10+ items and generally NOT available through Amazon themselves so my guess is that the free postage is having a direct effect on Marketplace sellers. Which begs the question: If, as is argued, Amazon make their money from the commission on Marketplace sales, where do they think this will all end up?

Same here, I usually sell around 3/4 a day, and not one single sale for the best part of two days. I wonder if this the same on Play? be nice to know.

Sales for me have plummeted across all the sites I sell on.

Previous to this, September had been my best month ever (on all sites).

Volumes here are down - but by value things don't look too bad at all. My guess is that the cheaper end of the market has been affected more by the RM stike action - people aren't buying the very cheap read in case it doesn't turn up, but they're continuing looking for the books they really want. Sales on play are static - but for me they consist almost entirely of bottom end stock.

It seems very slow on both the Bay and here, and getting worse, but on checking I found that the difference between this Oct and last was down to one huge sale last year. Still two days to go.

My sales collapsed this week but before that I have had a normal month.

I think sales are usually good for the first couple of days after a holiday until the price fixing software sees your books.

Sales have been down each time at the beginning of the strike, and a disproportionately high ratio of sales to Europe suggests strike related effects that are not as prevalent in Europe. I have also sold a few more expensive books (again, higher ratio than normal). Generally over the last month sales have been up. I think towards the end of the strike people will be gagging for their online shopping fix and will order more (but then I'm an optimist!).

If my software took a couple of days to catch up I'd be looking for a better version!

No sales on Play for three days but I have zero expectations with them anyway. Playtrade has been a big disappointment for me overall. However I had a great sales day yesterday on Amazon and the rest of the week has held steady at a decent, but not spectaular level.

During these strikes it definitely pays to do business internationally as overseas customers are much less likely to either know about them or be affected by them. Thank God for the colonies!

Hopeless here! I only have a small inventory but was selling very well before the strike - 17/18 books per week off a list of about 150/180 - now my sales are down to four for the last seven days and only one in the last four days.

Two more strikes have been called following this week's three day stoppage.
