I am not sure if I am replying to the post about transfiguration or not, however what I would like to address is the transfiguration. Some who say this is apocalyptic should understand that if these events did not happen then Jesus could not be the Son of God, he would be just a great historical figure.
This event has it's roots in the old testament and the reason is to show Moses as more than just a prophet but one who saw the rear end of the Lord, for to see his face would mean death, however Moses was to see the similitude of Lord which Jesus is Numbers 12: 7 my servant Moses is not so, who is faitful in all mine house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches: and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses. And for Elijah also had to be seen, Malachi 4: 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the comming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. This dreadful day is portrade in the passion.
There is nothing apocalytic about the situtation. Moses and Elijah are presumed dead Jesus the only flesh man there, and this light also has an air of resurrection in it because he told his disciples to Matt:17: 9 And as they came down the mountain, Jesus chargrd them saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead
As I said before all things must be complete about the Messiah, or it is all false. |
