Dear Admin. Elizabeth:

As a new subscriber and seminary student, I am thoroughly enjoying the fruit of the vine that you supply each week.  Through my studies in Interpersonal Ministry Skills, counseling, etc. in my pursuit of chaplaincy I find some of the forum answers a bit.....interesting, especially in light of how they relate (?!) to the articles!

Thank you for providing the many insights.  I lead a women's study group that likes to go pretty deep and, in their present pursuit of study of the Passion, they really enjoyed the recent article re: King and Ghandi and loved being able to put the meanings of the pieces from the Sermon on the Mount into the context of the first century.

This was not the first time you gave us food for thought.  Thank you for stoking the fire for the Living Word.

P.S.  I am just ONE "Steel Magnolia" - that is the name of our study group - "Strong in Faith - Sweetened by Grace..."  Thank you again, Carol.  Many blessings...!

Concerning you belief that God had truly and completely forgotten Jesus in the garden of Gethsamane, consider Psalm 22. I have heard that back in those, in the synagogues and such people would begin to quote a psalm beginning with the first portion of its content. And if you read all of Psalm 22 in its context you will understand the true nature of what Jesus was saying there as he was about to die.

Just a thought
